The late owner-breeder Michael Banks was remembered after the success of his namesake Michaels Choice, who landed a gamble in the opening 5½f nursery.

Newmarket trainer William Jarvis was maintaining his 100 per cent strike-rate at the track this year when the son of War Command justified support from 11-4 into 2-1 favouritism.

Back in the spring, Jarvis's now-retired stable star Mrs Gallagher carried the same colours of The Music Makers to success in a Listed contest over the same trip.
