Jardine delighted with Alexander James following explosive debut

Any casual observer casting a glance over the mile novice stakes would have been forgiven for thinking Alexander James was already a top-class prospect, such was the three-year-old debutant's dominance over his 11 rivals.

They perhaps would have been yet more shocked when seeing a starting price of 33-1 attached to the winner. This was a performance few saw coming.

Ridden by Jamie Gormley, the son of Camelot had the race almost sewn up coming off the home bend, but he continued to accelerate away from his paddling pursuers, ultimately putting 13 lengths between himself and runner-up Chance.
