'I've watched Paddy Brennan lift him home a few times' - Harry Reed thrilled after first win on Presenting Yeats

Jockey Harry Reed was relieved to finally get off the mark with Presenting Yeats after he caused a shock in the 3m2½f handicap hurdle.

Sent off at 18-1, the nine-year-old returned to the winner's enclosure for the first time since October 2022 after a comfortable nine-and-a-half-length success over Clover Pass.

Reed had drawn a blank aboard the Richard Hawker-trained horse in five previous outings and was thrilled to finally join the likes of Presenting Yeats' previous winning jockeys Paddy Brennan and James Best.

"Anything with him is a surprise," Reed told Sky Sports Racing. "I've not got a good record on him, but I've watched Paddy Brennan lift him home a few times and thought, 'How the hell has he done that?'

"I could tell he enjoyed himself after the first hurdle because he was travelling with a bit of ease. I was quite happy as I knew he had a bit left after the last, and today we got on with each other."

It was an emotional success for Reed, who dedicated his win to one of his close friends.

"My best mate lost his child last night and he'd normally come on days like this, so my thoughts are with him and his family," he added.

Welcome return to form

The Matt Sheppard-trained Pottlerath registered a seventh win in the 3m3½f handicap chase.

The ten-year-old defeated Getthepot by five lengths under the trainer's son Stan to end a winless sequence of 15 runs, a record that dates back to June 2023.

Hitting the jackpot

James Owen took his strike-rate to 26 per cent (10-39) in the past fortnight when the Alex Chadwick-ridden Jackpot Cash kicked off an across-the-card double in the 2m2½f novice handicap hurdle.
