'It's not bad business' - Give Me A Moment proves a bargain for Richard Bandey
Tuesday: Fontwell
Give Me A Moment made light of his price tag of 8,000gns to win comfortably for the second time in four days, and a third time this season, for trainer Richard Bandey in the 2m2f handicap chase.
The seven-year-old scored by 31 lengths on his previous start at Stratford and may have replicated that, had Harry Bannister not heavily eased him on the run-in to a seven-length victory.
Bandey said: "We were keen to run him under the penalty after his win on Saturday – the handicapper hiked him up 12lb for it – and he's done it very nicely once again.
"We bought him back in the September sales, he only cost us 8,000gns – it's alright isn't it, it's not bad business.
"Hopefully the handicapper won't crucify us," he added. "He might go up another 3lb, 4lb – a mark of 125 would be perfect. It's a mark I had hoped he would get up to."
The Hampshire-based trainer, who is enjoying his best ever tally of winners, is hoping for more success and thanked his team at home.
"I just keep pinching myself," added Bandey. "It's a team effort and I'm very happy, it's been a great season – we have a great team, nice horses – hopefully we keep being progressive and moving forward."
Bounce Back
Goa Lil, who has competed at a higher level on his previous three starts, showed his class by taking the feature 2m2f novice handicap chase.
Competing in a Grade 2 novice last time and previously losing to Cheltenham Plate Handicap Chase runner-up Imperial Alcazar, the six-year-old took the drop in class in his stride to run out a seven-and-a-half length winner under 7lb claimer Finn Lambert.
