Conditional jockey Isabelle Ryder enjoyed a memorable first ride at Hexham as she partnered Roger Pol to victory in the 2m7½f handicap hurdle.

It was a second win in the space of a week for the Jamie Snowden-trained seven-year-old, with Ryder aboard on both occasions. The success took her career tally to ten winners after Roger Pol overcame a 7lb penalty for that recent success over the same trip at Uttoxeter.

Having hit the front before the final hurdle here, he kept on strongly to score by three lengths from Idem.

Ryder said: “He only ran six days ago so he’s backed it up really well. With it being a small field I just wanted to make sure it didn’t turn into a sprint.

“He jumped really well. We know he stays, but he’s also got that good turn of foot and I had a nice position turning in to kick on.”

Now unbeaten from one ride at the track, Ryder joked: “It’s my favourite course now, it’s quite unique with all the ups and downs.”

Winner for Morgan

Trainer Laura Morgan maintained her profitable season, landing her seventh jumps winner of the campaign with We Got Your Back in the 1m7½f handicap chase.

The winner jumped the last with O’Faolains Glory but found extra under Brian Hughes to prevail by a length and a quarter.

Morgan's stable is operating at a 28 per cent strike-rate this term, returning £25.63 to a £1 level stake.
