'It's been awful!' - trainer Grant Tuer relieved to end winless run with Mokaman

Grant Tuer ended what he described as an "awful" spell without a winner thanks to a dogged front-running performance from Mokaman in the 5f novice auction stakes.

Striking the proverbial woodwork with his runners in recent weeks, Northallerton-based Tuer was celebrating just his second winner since racing resumed at the start of last month and was understandably relieved to see Mokaman hold on by a head under in-form Paul Mulrennan.

"It's been awful," said the trainer. "It's been the longest 30 days and at one point everything we ran seemed to finish within three to five lengths of the winner and it's just been frustrating.
