'It's been a great craic having him around the weighing room' - Keane on Frankie
On the day the original Frankie Dettori came to Bellewstown, it was fitting that the jockey many believe to be the next one was among the winners.
Colin Keane has a third Irish jockeys' title wrapped up with a bow on it, but he moved on to 122 for the season and just four shy of Joseph O'Brien's all-time record of 126 winners in a single campaign when Phoenix Cowboy landed the Bluegrass Horse Feeds Race.
The champion jockey, after his two-length victory on the 11-4 shot, said: "It's been great craic having him [Dettori] around the weighing room. It's brilliant to see such a big crowd here at Bellewstown, coming out and supporting the day. There's a great atmosphere around the place."
Heffernan provides Duffy with dream double
Seamie Heffernan continues to be the ultimate pro and he completed a 12-1 double on No Trouble in the first division of the Byrne Marquees Handicap.
His earlier victory on Plume Noire in the Woods Financial Services Fillies & Mares Maiden was easy on the eye and gave Trim trainer Brian Duffy a second winner in 24 hours, quite a feat considering he only has two horses in training.
Duffy said: "It's been unbelievable 24 hours. She's a lovely filly and a homebred by myself and my dad [Frank] so it is great to get a win into her.
"She's still a bit green galloping up in the air. We thought the trip might be too short for her but she has plenty of pace so we are delighted to get a bracket for her. It's a great occasion and it is great to have a winner on the day. We have just the two horses, her and her sister who won yesterday."
Mean Fomhair is the half-sister in question and she was a winner at the track on Wednesday.
No catching Fly Girl
The easiest winner of the evening was undoubtedly Fly Girl in the nicely named BetVictor 2 Bananas To 1 Banana Handicap.
Luke McAteer could afford to ease down the 16-1 shot for most of the final furlong as she coasted to a three-and-a-quarter length victory.
Winning trainer James McAuley said: "We actually bought her privately after she ran in the claimer at Gowran as we had the horse who finished second, Alice Milligan.
"We were thinking of buying her before that day but she didn't really perform. We said then we would see if we could strike some kind of deal and bought her a day or two later. She has been very straightforward since she came from Jessie's [Harrington]. It has worked out well."
Angel shines for Comer
It has been a profitable two-day fixture for Luke Comer as the second division of the Byrne Marquees Handicap went to 18-1 outsider Angel In the Sky, following in the footsteps of 6-1 winner Blyton on Wednesday.
The daughter of Sir Prancealot was making the breakthrough on her tenth start under Joe Doyle, staying on strongly to beat Clan Jock by two lengths.
