'It's an incredibly special track' - Tony Carroll wins with landmark 1,000th runner at beloved Brighton

Tony Carroll capped his 1,000th runner at the track in the perfect way when Time Patrol got up narrowly to land the 6f handicap.
The Sussex venue is Carroll's most successful turf track and his landmark day was made extra special with the five-year-old's neck success under Jack Doughty. The trainer then made it 127 winners at the course with the Doughty-ridden Port Hedland in the 5½f handicap.
Carroll said: "I'm so delighted. It was a big performance and great run, and he clearly enjoys this track.
"He was our 1,000th runner there, which makes the win mean a bit more. It's been an incredibly special track for us and thankfully it's been very lucky too. Hopefully long may it continue."
It was back-to-back course-and-distance victories for Time Patrol under Doughty and a return to the seaside track is high on the agenda.
Carroll added: "I don't know when he'll be exactly coming back just yet, but we'll freshen him up and try to come back for their big festival later this year."
Voikhansky warms up
Alec Voikhansky took his name off the jockeys' cold list with Sol Argent's fine victory in the 1m2f handicap.
The apprentice rider had been winless for 166 rides, but enjoyed his first success since November with a front-running two-and-a-quarter-length success.
All hail Aclaim
Critical Aclaim put three runner-up efforts behind him when getting off the mark at the fourth attempt with a narrow success in the 7f maiden.
