'It's all coming together' - 7lb claimer Mark Winn continues firing winners in

Seven pound claimer Mark Winn is hoping to continue his fine start to the season after Willingly landed the 6f fillies' handicap for trainer Mark Usher to keep the ball rolling.

The jockey found winners hard to come by last season but has already managed seven this term and, speaking to Racing TV, he said: "Last year I had one winner from 20 rides, so it was very slow. This year it's about 30 rides and seven winners so we're ticking away and getting on all right – it's all coming together.

"There's a lot to learn, but we'll keep going and getting better, and hopefully keep riding winners. Giving your horse the best chance of winning is the main thing to improve on."

Headgear heroics

Ian Williams appears to have found the key to Thunder Flash, who recorded back-to-back wins over course and distance in the 1m4f handicap, with the recent addition of headgear seeming to do the trick.

It was first-time cheekpieces that resulted in the first win, but they were dispensed with here in favour of a first-time visor.

The result was no different as the five-year-old kept on well to score under Derby-winning jockey Richard Kingscote.

Royal winner

Dukedom, owned by the Queen, justified odds-on favouritism to land the 6f maiden under Benoit de la Sayette for John and Thady Gosden.

The victory brought up a double on the card for De la Sayette, who also landed the feature 7f handicap aboard the Marco Botti-trained Divine Magic.
