'It was a terrific ride' - Mollie Phillips praised as Poetic Force scores
Saturday: Lingfield
Trainer Tony Carroll praised apprentice Mollie Phillips after she guided Poetic Force to victory in the 7f handicap.
The nine-year-old, who was sent off at 9-1, was delivered late by Phillips and finished three-quarters of a length clear of favourite Free Solo to hand Carroll a fifth winner of the year.
Carroll said: "We’re doing very well this year and it was a terrific ride from Mollie because the two front horses started racing early and it helped her pop through and pick up the race nicely."
It was a first win since May for Poetic Force, who was having his 72nd start, but Carroll wasn't fazed by the wait between victories.
Carroll said: "He’s been running very well all season and he just needed a bit of luck, but the race fell nicely for him."
Instant impact
Saffie Osborne struck on her first ride since returning from Meydan aboard the Gay Kelleway-trained Mukha Magic in the opening 2m handicap.
Osborne rode for her father Jamie, George Boughey and Ian Williams while out in Dubai for Thursday’s card, but had to wait until returning to England to register her third win of 2023.
Brilliant Billy
Billy Loughnane is well on his way to beating last year's winners tally as he recorded his fourth victory since the turn of the year when steering Momaer to victory in the 7f novice for his father Mark.
The apprentice, who managed six winners in his first season last year, is in fine form and has ridden a winner on the last three days.
