The day belonged to Aidan O'Brien at Newmarket as Saxon Warrior gave probably just an initial glimpse of what he will achieve this season, but anybody who gave the fillies' maiden at Cork more than a passing glance would certainly have been impressed with what they saw from his Galileo filly Flattering.

The outsider of the three Ballydoyle fillies in this contest, the 14-1 shot was sent to the front by Michael Hussey two furlongs out and quickened away impressively to account for joint-favourite Samasthiti by ten lengths.

Hussey said: "She was very green early and it took time for her to get her action together and to get going but when I asked her to go she gave plenty."
