It was an eventful day for champion jockey Richard Johnson, who opened the day with a quickfire double before taking a heavy fall aboard the Philip Hobbs-trained Mcnamaras Band in the third, ending his day.

After in-form handicapper Solstice Star produced a game front-running performance under a classically enterprising Johnson ride, the champion once again found himself in the winner's enclosure on the back of impressive Phillip Hobbs-trained maiden hurdle winner Deise Aba, owned by Trevor Hemmings.

The fall that led to Johnson standing down from the rest of his rides at Chepstow on Wednesday had initially looked very nasty, however, he was seen limping away from the incident a few minutes later.
