Hajey is the only jumps horse Tracy Waggott has in training and he left connections delighted by recording a second win on the bounce in the 2m4f handicap hurdle under conditional Tom Midgley.

The five-year-old was an 11-race maiden on the Flat but has found a new lease of life over hurdles. He fended off the late challenge of the Rebecca Menzies-trained favourite Twoshotsoftequila to strike again over course and distance.

Waggott, who also co-owns him with Sally Booth, said: “I'm really over the moon with him, Sally loves him and I love him too.

“We thought we'd try him over hurdles, he was third in his first race, and we felt he was always going to win one.

“We went to the sales the other day and couldn’t get him sold, but he’s a big stamp of a horse, a chaser in the making so we thought we'd keep him for a bit longer. If the money's right he’s still for sale.”

Strong stayer

The Christian Williams-trained Powerful Position has developed into a good staying prospect over fences and made it three wins from his last five starts in the 3m3f handicap chase.

The seven-year-old has rewarded the persistence of his trainer after mistakes let him down previously.

Winning jockey Jack Tudor said: “He’s still very big, he’s done a good job for us this season and he’s strengthened up from last year. The prize-money was good, the race wasn’t the strongest so we had to take our chance.”
