'I’m in a privileged position right now' - Gavin Sheehan lands second double in as many days

The James Owen-trained Forget The Way went one better than when finishing six lengths behind Mermaids Cave at the track nine days earlier.
The eight-year-old, partnered for the first time by the in-form Gavin Sheehan, maintained his excellent Huntingdon record in the 2m handicap hurdle, which is now two wins, two seconds and a third from five visits to the course.
The jockey told Racing TV: “Everything was nice and smooth, he jumped and travelled great and did it well.”
Stablemate Enthused filled the runner-up spot after the pair had traded favouritism throughout the day. “There wasn’t much between them, they’d been chopping and changing all day,” added Sheehan. “Luckily for me, mine turned up.”
After a double on Tuesday, the success marked a fourth win in a row for Sheehan, who had earlier landed the 2m mares’ novice hurdle on the Jamie Snowden-trained Lady Tadita.
The mare maintained her unbeaten record after three starts, though this was her narrowest success, finishing a length and three-quarters ahead of Amelia’s Star.
“She attacked her hurdles a lot more today,” said Sheehan. “She seems to be going the right way. She felt sharper, more tuned in and hopefully she’ll step forward again.
“Touch wood, things are going well, but you can’t get ahead of yourself in this game. I’m in a privileged position right now and ride for a lot of good trainers.”
Rip gets it right
The Gary and Josh Moore-trained Rip Wheeler made a successful start to his chasing career, having gone winless in five starts over hurdles.
Ridden by Robbie Dunne, he took the 2m4f novice handicap chase with a strong staying performance.
