Ikigai serves up 66-1 shock as trainer Gansera-Leveque earns first win of 2019

German-born Newmarket-based trainer Ilka Gansera-Leveque earned her first victory of the season as Ikigai belied odds of 66-1 to run out an impressive six-length winner of the 7f novice auction at Yarmouth.

The performance was all the more taking considering the two-year-old filly was making her debut and broke slowly into stride under Brett Doyle, but the outcome was of no great surprise to connections.

"We thought she'd run quite well and we've done this before, we're good at that," Gansera-Leveque bullishly informed Sky Sports Racing. "They're always professional and know their job.
