Nico de Boinville made a winning return to action after five months on the sidelines through injury.

The multiple Grade 1-winning jockey, who had broken ribs and injured his neck in a fall at Plumpton on Easter Monday, scored on his first ride back aboard The Expensive One, trained by Nigel and Willy Twiston-Davies.

The 5-4 favourite made all in the 2m2½f handicap hurdle, fending off the challenge of Fourtowns on the long run-in, with three hurdles omitted.

“I think I’ll come on for the run,” joked De Boinville to Racing TV. “He’s a lovely horse and a great one to come back on. I’m very grateful to the Twiston-Davies team for putting me up.

“It was a slow summer but I’m delighted to be back.”

De Boinville already has two booked rides for Chepstow this weekend. He is being lined up for the Max Comley-trained Just Her Type on Friday and Ile De Jersey, for boss Nicky Henderson, on Saturday.

666-1 double

Henry Oliver landed a 666-1 double, completed by Babs in the 2m½f bumper. The £4,000 yearling made a winning debut at 22-1, scoring by seven and a half lengths under Kielan Woods.

Africa Charm started the double by making a successful first start over obstacles at 28-1 in the 2m½f juvenile hurdle. He upset 2-11 favourite Stardrop, who had been 20 lengths clear at one stage.

The mount of Lee Edwards took advantage as Stardrop, who raced keenly, tired in the home straight and he reeled him in to win by a length and a half.
