Sunday: Hereford

Neil Mulholland's superb season at Hereford continued thanks to an inch-perfect ride by Hugh Nugent aboard La Cavsa Nostra.

Badly hampered when pulled up after a 813-day absence at Chepstow this month, the ten-year-old had no such problems this time when driven to the front late to win the 3m1f veterans' handicap chase by one and a quarter lengths.

Mulholland said: "I'm delighted with that, he's a horse with potential who has had his issues, but Hugh's given him a great ride.

"He was unlucky last time, so I'm very happy and hopefully we can keep him for next winter for a nice handicap."

The success brought Mulholland's record at the track to five winners from eight runners this season.

"I didn't know my record was so strong," he added. "I should be running a few more here."

Deserved success

Grace A Vous Enki made it fifth-time lucky in Britain with a comfortable success in the 3m1½f novice hurdle under Bryony Frost.

He was last seen pulling-up in the Classic Chase at Warwick but the Paul Nicholls-trained six-year-old took advantage of a drop in grade to cruise clear from the turn for home.

Promising prospects

Yggdrasil maintained his upward trajectory by winning the 2m3f handicap chase for Nick Williams. He was driven to the front in the shadows of the post by David Noonan to deny the plucky Court Royale.

Richard Newland's 22-1 outsider Feivel caused a surprise in the 2m3½f handicap hurdle, recording his second win.
