Huge upset in Cork National as O'Keeffe rides out claim on 40-1 Dromore Lad
The 2019 Paddy Power Cork Grand National saw top young talent Darragh O’Keeffe ride out his claim, but this time around it was a different up-and-coming conditional with the same surname who recorded that achievement with the brilliant Sean O’Keeffe causing a 40-1 upset on Dromore Lad.
The 21-year-old Wexford native, who was riding his 60th winner and his 26th of the campaign, enjoyed a comfortable success in the gruelling 3m4f feature on the John Patrick Ryan-trained eight-year-old, who was making just his third start over fences.
“It’s great to win my first National and lose my claim,” said O’Keeffe. “It’s a big milestone and John was very confident beforehand.”
