Two golden oldies proved age is no barrier when serving up an enthralling finish to the 3m veterans’ handicap chase with Houblon Des Obeaux edging out Third Intention.

The riderless Double Ross led the pair up the run-in as Venetia Williams’ ten-year-old stayed on relentlessly to gain a half-length success.

The final of the veterans’ series at Sandown and a second tilt at the Randox Health Grand National are among targets for the Julian Blackwell-owned handicap chaser.
