Honeyball mulls RSA option for Sam Brown after impressive Haydock win

Plenty can change up Haydock's long home straight and Sam Brown went from a moderate third to decisive winner and Cheltenham Festival contender at the business end of the Grade 2 novice chase over 2m4f.

"I thought he was in trouble turning in," trainer Anthony Honeyball admitted of the 9-4 shot, who rallied to lead before two out and scored by 15 lengths.

"I was thinking I'd run him too quick and I thought the best he could do was keep on for third. But then his stamina came into it, he was a very good bumper horse and he has lots of stamina – he really gallops and soft ground is key. He's got a good brain and that was a proper race and will do him good."
