Thursday: Perth

Rebecca Menzies directed praise towards fellow trainer Tom Lacey after You Name Him continued his rich vein of form this season.

The six-year-old was too strong for his rivals in the 3m handicap hurdle as he made it three wins from five starts since joining the Durham-based yard.

"It was a really good performance and Brian [Hughes] knows the horse a lot, he's built up a nice relationship with him," Menzies said.

"Tom Lacey recommended me to buy him because he thought he'd do well for us during the summer, which he has, and he really handled that ground today."

A £6,000 purchase at the Goffs UK Spring sale in May, You Name Him has now earned almost £16,000 in winnings and helped the dual-purpose trainer continue her success over jumps.

"We've had a good summer with the jumpers and he's flown the flag," Menzies said. "He wasn't an expensive buy and he's paid his way very quickly.

"He has got the size and scope to jump a fence and we'll have plenty of options for him. He has partially qualified for the Brindisi Breeze final, so we'll try and get him fully qualified so we have another option in the spring."

Worth the wait

Donald McCain delivered an impressive training performance in the 2m handicap hurdle after Nayati returned a winner on his return following a 1,013-day layoff.

The eight-year-old, who has not been seen on a racecourse since December 2019, got the better of the Fergal O'Brien-trained Long Stay, who was making his first start for 668 days.
