'He's got plenty of speed' - Maximized upstages better-fancied Godolphin stablemate with fluent success

A Charlie Appleby newcomer came out on top in the 6f novice stakes but it was the lesser-fancied Maximized, rather than odds-on stablemate Time To Turn, who prevailed in style under David Probert.
Time To Turn was the chosen mount of William Buick and the son of Dark Angel was sent off at 8-13, but the pair went down by one and a quarter lengths to Maximized – a £720,000 Godolphin purchase at the Goffs UK Breeze-Up last month – and Probert told Racing TV: "He was the first one in the gates and it was just a case of getting some experience into him but he jumped sharply.
"He was impressive over the last two furlongs, he quickened up really well and he's got plenty of speed. I'm sure Charlie will have a lot of fun with him."
Maximized was completing a double for Probert, who scrambled home by a head on Simiyann in the opening 2m handicap. Buick gained some compensation later on the card when partnering Spirited Style to an easy victory in the 1m2f fillies' maiden.

Duran delivers
Duran continues to be a model of consistency and was rewarded for two solid runner-up efforts this year with victory in the feature 5f handicap for trainer Nigel Tinkler.
The nine-year-old was ridden by Faye McManoman, who has partnered Duran to all four of his victories.
