Simon Walker looks to have found a perfect contender for the Amateur Derby at Epsom in Beauld As Brass after the five-year-old completed a quick-fire hat-trick with ease.

The winner was once again slowly away, just as he was when scoring at Lingfield last month and Chelmsford on Thursday, but it made no difference as he bolted clear by five lengths to post his best performance yet.

Trainer George Baker will look to prepare him for Epsom and one of the biggest races in the amateur riders' calendar, which Walker would be bidding to win for a fourth time since 2019.

Baker said: "I felt quite cunning as the three amateur races jumped out at me in the programme book with Simon on. I thought if we could win one that'd be good so to complete the hat-trick is the perfect plan.

"He's a quirky horse and exhausting to watch, I have to look away when the stalls open, but I'm delighted.

"These three races were the plan and we could look at going again at Leicester on Saturday. The Amateur Derby with Simon would be an obvious target for the summer."

Another hat-trick

Zappata also made it three wins on the spin for George Scott in the mile handicap. The Oasis Dream three-year-old added to victories at Wetherby and Redcar with an easy win under Liam Wright.
