'He's a horse we've always liked' - Datsalrightgino delivers first chase success
Wednesday: Chepstow
Jamie Snowden believes fences will be the making of Datsalrightgino and the well-regarded six-year-old scored on his second attempt since going chasing.
Ridden by Gavin Sheehan, he built on his chasing debut second at Newton Abbot last month to score by seven lengths from Calico.
"He's a horse we've always liked," Snowden said. "He won a couple of novice hurdles last year then got bogged down in deep ground in the Tolworth at Sandown but he came back to form in the spring with a nice run at Cheltenham.
"I'm not sure Newton Abbot was necessarily the right track first time over fences, it's quite sharp. He obviously needed that run just mentally and physically to sharpen up and he's improved for it.
"Fences are going to be the making of him, hopefully he really becomes a man."
Hot combination
A superb few days for Paul Nicholls and Harry Cobden continued as they combined for a treble with three exciting young prospects.
Tahmuras was priced up at 20-1 for the Supreme and Ballymore after comfortably winning the second division of the 2m maiden hurdle.
Knowsley Road similarly made a winning hurdling debut as the 13-time champion trainer took the 2m3½f maiden for the second successive year, before Isaac Des Obeaux, a relative to Clan Des Obeaux, made a winning debut in the bumper.
Like his multiple Grade 1-winning stablemate, Isaac Des Obeaux is owned by Ged Mason, Sir Alex Ferguson and Paul Barber.
