Lewis Edmunds backed up a double at Newbury on Thursday evening by landing the first two races for Rod Millman on this six-race card.

Edmunds produced Four Adaay with a well-timed run to prevail by half a length in the 5f handicap.

Millman said: “She’s not as good as she was, but it’s another win to her name and it’s been a long time between drinks."

The trainer-jockey combination sealed the double with the victory of 10-11 favourite Cypriot Diaspora, who followed up her course-and-distance win last week with another victory by a length.

Millman said: “I thought she had a very good chance. She’d won well at this track the previous week and likes the soft ground."

On Edmunds, the trainer added: "He’s been riding for us since midway through last season and probably flies under the radar. He’ll have a big future.”

Debut win for Frankel filly

There were two daughters of Frankel in the mile fillies’ maiden and it was the George Boughey-trained Heed who scored on her debut.

Jack Doughty's mount was in receipt of almost a stone from her rivals, as she was bred in Australia where the foaling season falls much later than in Britain, and she showed a good attitude to win by a neck.
