Hayes manages to find the answer on the promising Alghabrah

Alghabrah, a half-sister to Irish 2,000 Guineas winner Awtaad, justified her skimpy price in the 7f maiden but the Qipco 1,000 Guineas entry had to work harder than anyone expected to open her account at the second time of asking.

Following a promising second in a hot 1m maiden at Leopardstown in October, Alghabrah was heavily supported into 2-7 favourite but needed to pull out all the stops to deny the newcomer Bucky Larson who traded at a low of 1.05 in-running.

Kevin Prendergast made a rare appearance at Dundalk and, while he was pleased that his promising filly got the job done, he was not getting carried away with the success.
