Court Liability was culpable for the most eyecatching victory of the day as he jinked and unshipped Harry Bannister just after the winning line as the pair held on to land the 3m handicap hurdle.

The success was a first at the track for trainer Harry Whittington and Bannister said: "I've always thought he was a good horse and a pretty easy ride so it was a bit of a shock to come back to earth with quite a bang. Hopefully it looked worse than it felt and I haven't just rolled off the side!

"He did it very well and is very straightforward in his races. He can't be that tired after doing it so well after three miles so it's maybe a good sign. There is a lot to like about his profile as he's now won a bumper and three hurdle races."
