Harrington strikes again as Torcedor lowers George's colours

There is no stopping Jessica Harrington in 2017 as her Torcedor lowered the colours of Gold Cup winner Order Of St George in the Coolmore Vintage Crop Stakes at Navan.

Torcedor, the 4-1 second favourite, made all under Colm O'Donoghue in the 1m6f Group 3 as 4-5 favourite Order Of St George showed ring-rustiness in only just catching Twilight Payment for second.

Harrington, who has completed the Gold Cup and Irish National double in the last two months, said: "That was a big step forward, going up in class and I had to supplement him for the race as I thought he had come on for his Leopardstown run.

"Colm [O'Donoghue, rider] was very impressed with him. Nothing springs to mind for him next."

Aidan O'Brien, who was denied a seventh win the race, is still pointing the way back to Royal Ascot in a bid to retain the Gold Cup with Order Of St George, who displayed an ungainly head carriage under pressure from Seamie Heffernan inside the final two furlongs.

O'Brien said: "He has run very well on his first run back – he was in good form – and he will probably have another run before the Gold Cup."
