With Rossa Ryan sidelined after a fall at Wolverhampton on Wednesday evening, Thore Hammer Hansen made the best of the situation to pick up one of his rides and help secure a double for Richard Hannon.

The apprentice jockey took the 5f novice with Raging, the two-year-old striking for the first time at the third attempt, with Hansen securing the ride after Ryan broke his collarbone the previous evening.

It was another juvenile, the 14-1 debutant Tacarib Bay, who provided the first of the double by pulling away from favourite Kingmax in the final strides.

Hannon, trainer of both winners, said: "It’s really unfortunate that Rossa had a fall last night, but Thore has worked so hard all winter.

"He’s been with us a while now and deserves his opportunities. I’m delighted for him."

Of his runners Hannon added: "I was surprised Tacarib Bay won, that run would have been a good education for him. He coped well and is obviously very decent.

"As for Raging, the further he went the better he went. He’s a bit of a lad, but he’s entered in the Super Sprint Stakes and I like to think he could run very well in that."

Olympic glory

After waiting eight races for his first success, the Michael Bell-trained Olympic Theatre is now two from two after following up victory at Windsor last week with another in the 1m3½f handicap.

The gelded three-year-old carried top weight to comfortably see off his rivals and was eased down at the line by Dylan Hogan.
