A pair of old adages came to bear on the Qipco 2,000 Guineas at Newmarket.

The first was that Churchill, the champion juvenile, reinforced the notion that the season's opening Classic is really the last Group 1 race for two-year-olds. The second was that beauty is simplicity.

Ryan Moore bounced Churchill out of the stalls to track his front-running stablemate, Lancaster Bomber, before easing to the front approaching the final furlong.
