Richard Hannon would love to be champion trainer but he was the first to admit the £147,540 won by Goffs Premier Yearling Stakes winner Stormy Clouds will not be a summer springboard to title success this season.

With Aidan O'Brien having already amassed a record prize-money total for a British season, Hannon has no chance of adding another crown to the one he lifted at the end of his first campaign with a licence two years ago.

However, the race for second place is tight and Hannon's prospects of winning that battle of Britain were helped by the diminutive Stormy Clouds, who followed up her Listed third from just six days ago to win the valuable pot under Sean Levey in the colours of Chris Giles, yesterday not in Yorkshire but California.
