Hamilton leaves it late as Hattons makes it five

Proof that drama is not measured by handicap ratings came in the 3m handicap chase in which the 103-rated Hattons Hill secured a fifth consecutive course-and-distance victory for Henry Hogarth and a cool Jamie Hamilton.
Hamilton and Hattons Hill jumped the last fence only third, four lengths behind Lilly's Legend who has been ridden boldly by Emma Todd. Hattons Hill started to devour the ground after getting organised on the flat. With 50 yards to go he passed Apache Pilot and just a couple of strides from the line nabbed Lilly's Legend.
Officially a photograph was required to split them, but the swollen Hexham crowd knew crossing the line what was coming. Confirmation was met with a cheer for the 11-4 favourite.
