Hamilton gains due reward for keeping up record prize-money level

Hamilton's rare clash of Group 1 winners was reward for the track's decision to maintain its record level of prize-money, according to chief executive Vivien Currie.

With funding levels set to fall due to FOBT restrictions, many other courses cut purses for 2019 but Hamilton kept up the value of its programme.

"We've always been very clear that prize-money is the first call on our profits," Currie said. "Last year was a record and I really didn't want to go backwards, although I did want to go ahead again and there have been other projects that we have had to put on hold.
