Gutsy Redkalani gives Boanas her first training success

Following two seconds at Newcastle on Tuesday, Gillian Boanas managed to go one better by sending out her first winner under Rules when the 10-1 shot Redkalani landed the 3m1½f handicap hurdle under Emma Todd.

She said: "I've been knocking on the door and it has finally opened for me but I didn't think I would do it with him."

Boanas took over the licence at Groundhill Farm, Lingdale when Keith Reveley retired at the end of January having worked for him and his mother Mary for 24 years. Ironically the nine-year-old, who was winning for only the second time in his 19-race career, was Reveley's final runner but did not give him a fairytale finale as he was pulled up.
