It was fourth time lucky for Term Of Endearment in Britain this year as she ended a 14-month winless run with a gutsy performance to land the Listed Beckford Stakes.

Formerly trained by Henry de Bromhead in Ireland, the six-year-old bounced back to winning ways for the first time since last year's Group 2 Lillie Langtry Stakes at Glorious Goodwood.

After moving to William Haggas, she finished down the field in the Dubai Gold Cup before suffering three consecutive defeats on home soil when sent off favourite each time. However, she put those efforts behind her under Tom Marquand, who praised her attitude.

He said: "She can be too enthusiastic early on, but she was really good and it was probably the first time that the first part of the race has gone so smoothly. On this ground, nothing happened too fast and she was able to get her head back in front late on."

Prince Paddy

Trainer Paddy Butler continues to prove that age is just a number as he celebrated his fourth winner of the season just days before his 76th birthday.

Based in East Sussex, Butler saddled Rupert The Prince to a third win since July in the opening 2m1f handicap, though the trainer's responsibilities at home go deeper than just being seen on a racetrack.

"I still ride out," he said. "I don't ride this lad, I only ride the quiet ones. I'm 76 on Saturday, and I also still play squash. I'm playing in the masters tournament in Ireland next week, and I also played in Poland a few weeks ago."

Visually impressive

Clive Cox continued his good record with juveniles this year when Visually made an eye-catching debut to land the 5f novice.

The Lambourn trainer is now 14-82 [17 per cent] with two-year-olds after the Expert Eye colt produced a quick turn of foot to defeat Control Room by a length and a half.

Cox's assistant Matt Stanley said: "It was nice to do it first time out against horses who have already had a run. He came in a bit late and he's still developing, but he's done it nicely in the end. He was quite timid to start with, but he's very straightforward, and he's become quite professional."

Wicked winner

The Wicked Wolf provided the Royal Windsor Racing Syndicate with its first winner in division two of the mile novice.

Trained by Jamie Osborne, the juvenile is the first horse for Windsor racecourse after the syndicate was formed in the summer, and he went two better than his third at Chelmsford last time.

Winning jockey William Carver said: "I just let him fall out of the stalls and find his feet, so he could relax as best as he could. He's done it quite well and I always thought he'd get on top from about a furlong and a half out."

Levey brace

Sean Levey registered a double on the card with the Richard Hannon-trained Concert Party in the 1m2f handicap and Silver Wraith in the following 5½f fillies' handicap for Emma Lavelle.
