Trainer Warren Greatrex did not attempt to hide his delight with the hugely promising La Bague Au Roi, who backed up her impressive debut over fences with an equally eyecatching display in the Grade 2 Ladbrokes Novices' Chase under Richard Johnson.

Making the pace, the imposing seven-year-old galloped her rivals into submission in the closing stages, putting seven lengths between her and the Alan King-trained Talkischeap.

"We always thought chasing was going to be the making of her," Greatrex said. "For a big horse she's so quick that you feel like you're just hacking around.
