If ever there was a modern-day poster boy for the ups and downs of Aintree it is Gas Line Boy, who scored his biggest win at the track that has defined his career.

He fell at the first in the Grand National in 2015 but returned to finish a fine fifth over the famous fences at 50-1 last April.

The 11-year-old took another fall, when clear and still going well, in a veterans' chase on the Mildmay Course six weeks ago.
