Gosden on familiar ground as Tartini and Tart pull off a shock

The first two races were divisions of the Golden Horn Maiden Stakes, a race won two years ago by the subsequent Derby, Eclipse, Irish Champion Stakes and Arc winner, and now named in his honour.

Although the race was divided into two, such was the quality on show across both that it would be no surprise to see a handful of quality three-year-olds emerge from each of them.

The re-badging of the race certainly seemed to catch the attention of John Gosden, Golden Horn's trainer, who saddled three across both races, winning the first with 25-1 second-string Tartini and providing the second in both.
