Jockey rides first winner on Gordon Elliott debutant who beats 102-rated Flat horse in maiden hurdle

Paddy Cleary rode his first winner aboard newcomer Timeless Treaty in division two of the 2m1½f maiden hurdle.
Cleary’s mount, who is trained by Gordon Elliott, stayed on strongly to beat Fairbanks, who boasts a 102 rating on the Flat and was sent off the 4-6 favourite, by three-quarters of a length.
“He had worked well at home and I’m delighted to win on him,” said Cleary, who was claiming 7lb on the five-year-old, on Racing TV. “He jumped and travelled nicely and the more you got after him, the better he went.
“I thought Fairbanks had the better of us but we hit the line pretty strongly. Gordon is supporting me well and when you’re riding for him you always feel like you have a chance.”
Tom Halford rode his first winner under rules on the Cormac Farrell-trained Kings Jet in the 2m7f maiden hunter chase.
Hanlon is top gun
Paddy Hanlon rode his first winner at Down Royal when sealing feature-race success aboard Topgun Simmy in the 3m hurdle.
The six-year-old, who is trained by Hanlon’s father Shark, was game from the front and scored by a length and a half.
Hanlon did not have to wait long to double his course tally as he won the 3m2f handicap chase on stablemate Quest With Speed.
Eskimo sports familiar colours
The Paisley Park silks were in the winner’s enclosure after the Andrew Gemmell-owned Quinn The Eskimo gained a first success for Paul Nolan when landing the 2m1½f handicap hurdle by a length and a quarter under Richie Deegan.
