Ground to dictate Tiger Roll's third Grand National bid says Gordon Elliott

Gordon Elliott has said the history-seeking Tiger Roll will not line up in the Randox Health Grand National at Aintree next month if the going is soft or heavy after he finished runner-up to Easysland in the Glenfarclas Chase at Cheltenham.

The 8-11 favourite was denied a third successive victory in the cross-country race after drawing clear with the France-based winner, who stayed on best to score by 17 lengths on ground officially described as soft, heavy in places.

Elliott said: "I'm absolutely delighted with his performance, although slightly disappointed he didn't win. I was slightly worried about the ground going into it and hopefully he'll be okay in the morning. This should be a perfect prep for the Grand National.
