Beat Le Bon, a horse who has always promised so much for trainer Richard Hannon and owners Sullivan Bloodstock and Merribelle Irish Farm, finally delivered a performance matching his talent with an eyecatching win in the valuable Unibet Golden Mile.

Drawn in stall three, the son of Wootton Bassett was given a daring ride up the inside rail by Pat Dobbs to catch the front-running Vale Of Kent and win by a length.

It was a change of fortune for Hannon after the talented Threat’s defeat in the Richmond Stakes on Thursday, although it was the Wiltshire-based trainer's third winner of the week. He said: "It's a different day to yesterday."
