Glassonbury ends long drought on Lord County but then falls flat on his face

It had been a long time between drinks for amateur rider Ed Glassonbury but he put matters right in style as Lord County proved to be his first winner under rules for seven years when landing the 2m4f handicap hurdle.

However, just a little over an hour later, Glassonbury endured the other side of the coin as he became unbalanced aboard Late Romantic when in second place going to the final flight of the 2m7f handicap hurdle and paid the penalty by ending up on the deck.

Fortunately, he was soon on his feet before walking away rather embarrassed as the race went the way of the Jamie Moore-partnered Kayf Moss, who stayed on too strongly close home to thwart the late challenge of Frankly Speaking.
