Gayebury romp in the mud leaves Williams with festival dilemma

Cheltenham was at the forefront of Evan Williams' mind when Gayebury turned the 2m7½f handicap hurdle into a one-horse romp with a very easy victory over Irish raider Jury Duty.

Before the seven-year-old had scored with the minimum of fuss, Williams had been favouring the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle but after the event he admitted he might switch his charge to the Pertemps Hurdle Final.

The trainer said: "I think the horse has got to have soft ground and it might not be to his liking at Cheltenham but if there's some cut he'll take his chance in one of those races as he's earned it by winning in the manner he has.
