Apprentice Jane Elliott reached her target for 2017 with time to spare when overnight gamble Shyron came from off the pace with a dream run up the rail to land his first win of the year in the feature mile handicap.

The six-year-old, who had been second in the corresponding race from a much stiffer mark in 2016, was Elliott's 30th winner of the year.

She said: "That was my target, so it's a relief to get there, and hopefully I might get two or three more before the end of the year.
