Gamble landed as Musical Rhapsody extends Gavin Cromwell's excellent run of form
Wednesday: Dundalk
Strong market support behind the Gavin Cromwell-trained Musical Rhapsody proved well placed in the 1m2½f three-year-old handicap as she got up in the nick of time under Gary Carroll to land a bit of a touch.
Generally available to back at 16-1 on Wednesday morning, Musical Rhapsody went off the 100-30 joint-favourite for owners Mark and Helen Keaveney, who also bred the daughter of Holy Roman Emperor.
A half-length success represented a major return to form for the 65-rated performer, who had shown little under rules after winning a barrier trial on her only previous visit to Dundalk in July.
Wednesday's success took the in-form Cromwell to 18 winners across October and November, making it his best tally for the two months, with a fortnight still to go to add to his haul.
"She won a barrier trial here but her last two runs on the grass were terrible," said Cromwell. "She had excuses, though, after getting mowed out of it in the straight at Thurles, and then the ground was too deep last time at the Curragh."
Speaking to Racing TV, Cromwell added: "She loves that surface and it's nice to get her head in front. Gary probably ended up a bit further back than he wanted but she did everything right.
"I think we'll keep her going, hopefully there's another race in her. The horses have been running great so hopefully we can keep them like that."
