Gallifrey leaves it late in making winning Newcastle return

The Lucy Wadham-trained Gallifrey carries a little bit of folklore on the Newcastle Tapeta, having been runner-up in the maiden at the track won by Enable.

Returning for the first time since, the daughter of Sir Percy set the record straight with success in the opening 1m4½f handicap, though she left it late.

Caught in a pocket over furlong out and trading at 29-1 on Betfair, the 2-1 favourite rallied under Richard Kingscote to master Zabeel Star by half a length.
