Without Bryony Frost in the saddle, Northandsouth's chance of winning tends to go west. However, following victory in the opening 2m½f handicap chase, the eight-year-old's form figures now read two wins and a third with Frost on board.

Trainer Sam Drinkwater said: "He likes her! He always seems to run well for her – he's not the same for other jockeys and I don't know why. It's very strange.

"I used to ride and I always thought it was a bit of a myth that some horses went better for certain jockeys, but now I'm training I'm starting to look at it in a different way."
