There was a fitting winner of the Dale Gibson 50th Birthday Handicap as the former Flat jockey's old weighing-room colleague and great friend Paul Hanagan drove out Luis Vaz De Torres for a game success.

Gibson, who retired in 2009 following a career that yielded 529 winners, reached the landmark on Wednesday and continued the celebrations at his local course.

"We had a big party in my village Boston Spa last night and although some of us have sore heads we came on to here for lunch," said Gibson, who is now executive director of the Professional Jockeys Association.
