More than a Million Pound Drop was the line from many of the dazed off-course bookmakers after handicap snip Franklin D's heritage handicap win as 7-4 favourite headlined a Friday punters' paradise at Goodwood.

Ryan Moore making it a treble of winning favourites and Sir Michael Stoute joining the party with the same feat was described as "a perfect storm" by Andrew Griffiths, spokesman for Betfred who had the added insult of having put up the money for the heritage handicap.

There was an air of disbelief around the offices when Poet's Word served up a final blow having been backed to 7-4 favourite from a morning 7-2.
