There were four bottles of champagne instead of Ghost Ship ale at the Adnams-sponsored course for Oisin Murphy after a four-timer, the highlight of which was Fortune's Pearl.

A low draw was the key to the success of Qatar Racing's chestnut in the 7f juvenile novice stakes. The colt bounded out of stall two to defy a 3lb extra burden despite veering away from the crowd on the climb to the line.

Not many defy penalties in these races and Murphy had the Andrew Balding-trained juvenile in the right place, whereas the odds-on Charlie Appleby runner Al Hajar missed the break for the second time running.
